Curious about what PCF has been up to?
August was a busy month for us. We had an amazing 51 adoptions! 29 dogs, 20 cats, and 2 rabbits. We’re so excited to see the small critters getting homes for two months in a row, keep it up! One adoption this month was extra special to us – Buddy, the 9 year old lab who had been with us since January 2023, finally got himself the perfect home! Buddy had some pretty specific requirements for a new home, namely no other pets. A gentleman came along who had just lost his only pet and was looking for a new companion, and Buddy fit in right away. After over two years, Buddy is finally home!
The numbers are in for our voucher program from May and June! In May we helped 128 cats and dogs get altered, and in June we helped 73 – that’s a grand total of 201 animals who are no longer producing unwanted litters! Of these, 42 were TNR (trap, neuter, release) outside and feral cats. Sadly these numbers are down from last year as we are struggling to find funding to help cover the reduced cost of these vouchers. If you’re able, please go on our website’s donation page (https://petscomefirst.net/donate/) and select “TNR Fund” for what you’d like to support. This program is critical for helping us prevent more kittens being born outside to fend for themselves or to contribute to shelter overcrowding.
We also had a great time at the Grange Fair! Thank you to everyone who stopped by to share your stories, your adoption updates, and just generally support us. We sold quite a few of our Subaru raffle tickets and a ton of raffle basket tickets. We enjoyed hearing from all of you, and look forward to next year’s Fair!
Speaking of the Subaru raffle, don’t forget that tickets are still available! Only 3000 chances are being sold to win either a 2025 Subaru Crosstrek or $20,000 on October 15th. Tickets are available to purchase on our website (https://petscomefirst.net/raffle/) or by going to the following locations during their business hours: Pets Come First in Centre Hall, Stocker Subaru and Wiscoy for Animals in State College, Maria’s Italian Restaurant in Bellefonte, and Lerch RV in Milroy.
