Shelter Guidelines & Adoptions during COVID-19
Due to the elevated COVID results in the area, Pets Come First will be closed to the public and open by appointment only until further notice. To schedule an appointment, you must be an Approved Adopter. Adoption applications can be downloaded from our website at petscomefirst.net/adopt and emailed to info@petscomefirst.com. Due to the high volume of applications, please only complete if you are a serious adopter.
We apologize for any inconvenience, but want to ensure our staff remains safe and healthy. Thanks!
Guidelines for visiting the shelter:
-
Individuals with symptoms of COVID-19 are asked to refrain from visiting at this time.
-
Masks are required inside the building. If you are not wearing a mask, we will assume that you are medically unable.
-
Outside of the building, we request that you wear a mask when unable to maintain social distancing of 6 feet.
-
We will limit the number of visitors inside the shelter to 15 at a given time, and therefore may request visitors remain outside until others have left the facility. Again, we request that you only come to the shelter if you are serious about adopting an animal at this time.
-
Hand sanitizer will be available throughout the shelter and we ask that you use it before and after all interactions.
-
Please practice social distancing of 6 feet as much as possible.
-
We are not currently accepting non-essential donations such as blankets, towels, or toys. Frequently used donations such as food, litter, and cleaning supplies are still being accepted.
-
Those interested in volunteering or dog walking should click here to complete the volunteer form and the Volunteer Coordinator will be in contact with you.
-
Prospective Adopters can still be pre-approved for adoption by completing the steps outlined below.
